Binghamton University-a must read

Students considering Binghamton University should read the report about what happened in basketball even if they have no interest in sports. If the report is accurate, the report reveals how this university does business. The report says that the administration's decisions and actions resulted in rule violations and unacceptable activity. If the report is accurate, the administrator's actions caused the problems in basketball. Basketball did not cause the administrators to be unethical. It was the other way around. And unless those involved all leave, it would be hard to know how you could trust them. Imagine being on campus and observing discrimination or some other terrible thing. Who would you tell? How would you get it resolved? Scary. If the report is correct, the university is more committed to finding ways to hide things that make them look bad than they are to correcting things. Where would that leave you? Cut and paste this link

This report is bogus

I guess it is so bogus that Judge Kaye has been selected by NYS Attorney General Andrew Cuomo to investigate allegegations against Gov. Patterson involving obstruction of justice. Write a bogus report one month and get a high profile assignment involving a sitting Governor the next? Yep. Guess that’s how things are done in NY.

Let me guess, 13902isamistake…rejected?

the report is NOT bogus. those of us in the community have known this was going on! It is a shame that the University lost their mission of education in their pursuit of sports! Hopefully they will straighten things out in the next year.

This report may not be bogus but the basketball scandal isn’t breaking news either and judging by the other threads people are already aware of this and are able to take the info and do with it what they want. It’s obvious this new poster has an agenda judging from the 13902isamistake name AND their only posts are on this same topic. 3 posts were needed to say the same thing in 3 different threads???

I just graduated BU… the report is not bogus at all, but with all of the troubles the basketball program has been having it’s really no surprise at all. What I can say is that this is NOT how the rest of the school “does business”. I know the athletics program is pretty chaotic, but to be honest the 99% of students not in the athletics program are completely unaffected by this.
You mentioned that there is no one to speak to if you feel discriminated against on campus… that couldn’t be any farther from the truth. BU is one of the most open places, and there are countless staff members and students that would be more than happy to listen to and assist you. What happened with the basketball team represents a very isolated group of people. Although the public may see Lois DeFleur and the basketball team as the face of BU, those people really have nothing to do with the daily life of the people at the school.
