Binghamton vs. NYU

Of all the schools I got into, Binghamton and NYU are my top choices. NYU is an amazing school, but then again so is Binghamton. NYU does have the name though, so would I be making a mistake in passing up NYU? Is NYU worth the debt, especially when I'm undecided about my major?

I like both schools A LOT. And they're both so different campus-wise. I don't want to give up the traditional campus at Binghamton, but I also don't want to lose the city! I'm completely torn :(

If you are planning to go to grad school, you should try not to have as much debt as possible. NYU and Binghamton are both great schools. Did you get a chance to visit both campuses? If you didn’t, visit and see what university is perfect fit for you:)

If you really want NYC, you should go to NYU. Binghamton is not near any city that can match the awesome of NYC. If that’s not a big deal, then go to Bing. NYU’s location is the thing it has going for in this instance, but if it isn’t a big deal, why waste all that money?

Happynari, that’s pretty much what I’m thinking. But I’m not sure if this is a great opportunity that I’m passing up. NYU kids have really great chances of getting into grad school.

I did like NYU a lot, but I’ll be in over $100,000 of debt by the time I graduate. Then there’s grad school after that! I don’t want to be in debt till I’m like, 90, lol.

If NYU and the NYC experience is worth the expense to you… than you should definitely go.

But if you are going to NYU so you can get into graduate school, I don’t think its necessary. After a certain point, Undergrad rankings don’t count (in arts and sciences). Bing will get you into grad schools just as NYU will. My friend went to UVermont and now is choosing between Harvard and UChicago. Employers don’t care about your undergrad degree… your graduate degree is what counts. This may not be true when you are studying outside of the arts and sciences though. Ultimately it is what you want and what you want to spend. You aren’t wrong either way. Good luck with the decision! I applied to NYU too… as a transfer… on the off chance they just really loved me and decided to give me piles and piles of cash. the. very. off. chance.

You would have amazing internship opportunities at NYU where you could discover a major and make alot of contacts. plus, they have a huge network of alumni. you might get bored at binghamton after freshmen year but i doubt you would ever get bored at nyu…

NYU>Bing, with exception to cost.

Unless you’re going to Stern, you can’t even consider taking out 50K+ in loans to go to NYU.

Go to Bing and save the money for grad school, or a car, or a house.
