How far away is Binghamton from nyc by car?
Is there a train I can take from Bing to nyc? how long will that take?

It's about 4-5 hours by car. I think there is a train but most people drive up.

recent article in bu newspaper about possibility of train in the future -- also refers to the bus lines that run to nyc. http://www.bupipedream.com/pipeline_web/display_article.php?id=6878

as for driving time from nyc- it depends on from where in nyc you start out. once you are over the gw bridge or the tappan zee bridge (depending on whether you are taking rte. 17 or rtes 80&81), its about 3 hours.

you can take the Short Line bus. you board in Penn Station and then its about 3 hr 45 min from there. they are very exact with their times, so be there on time and expect to arrive at the destination where the paper is stated.

its about $65.xx roundtrip
$32.xx one way

Whoever said 4 to 5 hours is completely wrong. Unless you are counting the extra hour or two that is possibly through traffic in or around NYC. However, just to get to the outside of NYC and coming in (regardless of where you live exactly), I would say about 3 hours and 30 minutes of driving.

Depending on where you live within NYC, it might be easier to take a bus/train to get in. But, that's me... I hate driving in NYC.

so there is no train station around Binghamton that goes to nyc?

Im asking this because if I go to Binghamton Im gonna be visiting family relatives and friends in brooklyn a lot...so im curious if there is a quicker way.

Im from wisconsin btw...so idk much of anything about ny..i visited once but thats about it.

there are buses that run from campus to nyc on weekends http://www.buescape.cjb.net/
if you take the bus, once you factor in commuting time to get to your relatives in brooklyn, my guess is you're total trip could easily be 5 hours or more.
currently there isn't train service.
you might be able to get a ride from people driving down to nyc.
binghamton is not so close to the city that you should be considering frequent trips to brooklyn, imho -- its close enough that you can visit if there is an occasion warranting it.

Buses from downtown Binghamton - both Short Line and Greyhound - go to the Port Authority Bus Terminal. They leave often, and the trip is three and a half hours. From there, you hop on a subway to get to Brooklyn. That could be a very quick trip or a long one, depending on where in Brooklyn you're trying to go.

Yea... NYC is definitely 3.5 hours from Bing. Bing is 3 hours from where I live and NYC is 30-45 minutes

I said 4-5 hours due to traffic including getting in/out nyc + rest stops. It's more around 3-4 depending on how fast you're going, weather and traffic.

But with buses, it can be a bit because the bus stops in way too many places. Get an express one, if possible...

go to penn station and take a bus. it's about 3 hours and not too uncomfortable

Can you share your stats, GPA, EC, SAT, ACT, etc. for the admisison criteria for Binghamton...Also, any other info on the school - academics, socially, dorms, food, financial aid, etc.?
