How important is the material in the text?

I bought the 7th edition last summer but they phased out that edition this semester. I was thinking I'd keep the old book and borrow the newer edition when necessary. Just wondering if this plan sounds reasonable. I paid $50 for the 7th ed, I really don't want to buy a newer copy unless it is absolutely crucial to success in the class.

i dont think u need to buy a new one, the 8th edition and 9th edition just came out in the last few years so there should be not much change besides the page numbers. besides, the tests are lecture based so u are only using the text for background info

get the 7th and save if you can.

i basically only used the textbook to just skim right before midterms. its much easier to just study of lectures notes for bio 1a. (and bio 1b even more so)

You can easily do well on the exams without opening the textbook, as long as you study the lectures!
