Hello! I heard this was a recommended class for bio sci majors. So I was wondering if anyone can explain to me what this class really is. Haha, the thing is.. I'm not sure if I want to stay in the bio sci major :| So should I take this one unit course anyway.. on top of the courses that I plan to take?

If you are a bio major, I think it’s highly recommended that you take the Bio 2A seminar. It’s only offered during the fall quarter so you must take it at the time. I have a lot of friends who are bio majors and they said that the seminar is basically introducing you into the bio field, what the expectations are for the next four years, preparations for premed students, and just learning about what you’re in for. I think you should do it because it’s only a 1 unit course and it’s pass/no pass so it won’t be challenging. I hear it’s an informative class so try it; maybe it will ease the uncertainties that you have about bio.

If I were you, I’d take it. I took it last year. Honestly, I think I got good information from it, and I remember thinking that they gave out pretty good information that I wouldn’t have sought out or known myself. It’s only one unit and once a week, so it’s really not that bad. You’ll definitely be fine if you don’t take it, but I think it’s a good idea just to take it and get some extra bio stuff. After this class, you won’t have another class all year giving you bio advice, so it’s only one shot. If you don’t like it, you can just drop the class.

You literally sit down and listen. That’s it. This class is more about trying to help you. It’s a pass/no pass class, easy, as long as you show up. You can sit down and fall asleep for all anyone cares (although if you do that, you might as well drop the class and go sleep in your own bed).

When I had taken Writing 39b and my friends were taking it too, your theme was not revealed until you were enrolled in the class and the professor sent out an email about the theme and the required reading material. So basically, it was just pure luck and a big ol’ surprise.
