Bio-Engineering at UCSD

As everyone knows, bio-eng at ucsd is one of the top programs in the nation. since it is so prestigious, i am wondering if it’s VERY cutthroat and competitive among the students majoring in it. like, is there a noticeable difference in amount of homework compared to other science majors? and is it much harder to attain a higher gpa than just a regular biology major? a friend told me that people with Molecular Cell Biology major at berkeley literally live in the library. is this the same case for bio-eng at ucsd?

thanks for your help

i have two friends in bioE and none have complained about "cutthroat" behavior. Both of these students are only on their second quarter though :)
