Hi guys,

I am currently in my first semester at my community college. I am a biology major planning to transfer to UCSD, and I will ultimately apply to medical school. My dream career is to be a pediatrician or internal/orthopedic surgeon (haha sorry for the contrasting careers).

I know that as a bio major, it will take about 3 years before I can transfer and I am fine with this. However, if I can transfer earlier, then that would be better. With that said, I have friends who started out as bio majors and switched to nursing or psychology so that they can transfer in 2 years rather than 3.

Is there any drawback in switching from bio to nursing/psychology in terms of completing the premed requisites? Also, do the courses under these majors fulfill the premed requirements or would I have to take additional classes outside the major to fulfill those requirements?

Sorry for the lengthy post and thank you to everyone that helps out!!!
