BioEngineering Major at UCR

Ok so I have a couple of questions I was hoping you guys could answer?
1) I've been doing research and I keep finding mixed reviews on Bioengineering. Some sites say its the fastest growing engineering major and others say that it is completely useless and that I am better off doing chemical engineering.

2) How is the Job Market for a BS and MS. And also has anyone majored in Bioengineering at UCR who can tell me how internship opportunities are like

3) I'm a Chemistry Major and I am about to complete my first year. Do you think its to late for me to switch to engineering?

I was also wondering if biomedical engineering is a viable option. I read on a website that it’s supposed to grow 60%, but when I look at jobs in DFW area there are no jobs.
