I am thinking of applying a double major in Biology and Communications. My reasoning for double majoring is because Medical schools and organizations demand students and employees who can communicate effectively and compassionately with patients and clients beyond strictly clinical interactions. I heard If you’re a premed, a communications double major helps you understand how to work with others and health care organizations need employees who know how to communicate with vendors, clients, media and the public.
I have a few questions, especially if i should even consider double majoring at all. I’m a rising junior in high school , so I was wondering what classes I can take to make myself a very competitive applicant. Most of my classes have been in relation to my biology interest and setting me on the right track for a medal field. I recently attended a business camp, and whilst doing more research I realized this might sound like a good track for me. The business camp really opened my eyes, and I definitely need to improve my communication skills.
Should I even Double Major? Is my reason a good enough one to pursue it? Should I just minor instead?
Just ask me an questions if i have explained anything poorly, or you want to know more stats about me. I am taking both my PSAT/SAT in October so I do not have either of those scores. My GPA is a 3.7 and I take mostly honors and AP classes.
