Biology and Pre med at Drexel Advice

I was wondering if anyone majoring in Bio or doing Pre Med can give me any tips or advice about classes and professors for freshmen?

  • Can you also rate the science department based on your experiences?

Anybody taking Bio at Drexel?

I’m debating doing pre-med at Drexel or Usciences, if my parents don’t want to pay for NYU. I’m wondering what the cost comes out to be including the coop.

so I’m not a student at Drexel yet but I’ve been accepted for Biological Sciences and plan on going on the pre-med track. If you went to the accepted students day at Drexel, they split you up by majors and they did a lot for the bio students. Basically, they split the bio majors in to 3 groups and each group went to a different classroom to listen to a powerpoint and to do a short, easy lab in order to experience what it would be like to be a bio student at Drexel first-hand. During the powerpoints, they put a lot of emphasis on the pre-med tracks and I’m sure that if you went, the track you would take at Drexel would be very clear. For classes, with the new MCAT change, the professors said that even if you had the AP requirements to skip biology and other classes, they would recommend you re-take the class for reinforcement. Also, pre-meds at Drexel have the option for early assurance which is basically an ED option to Drexel’s Medical School and is an advantage since only about 10-15 people apply compared to the 14,000 people trying to snag a spot out of 200 later that June.

For professors and such, you can go to ratemyprofessor.com and search Drexel.

I also found a facebook group for Drexel students with my major where I can ask and post about professors and classes. You can probably find one for your major. There are hundreds of Drexel groups, you just have to find the populated ones.
