I was hoping to get some feedback re: the coursework, research and internship opportunities in and around OSU and anything else that might be of interest for someone studying in this field. I am looking for the good, the bad and the ugly.
@adkdad please don’t think I am stalking you but my S is pursuing same course. Accepted biology at Pitt and chose Health Science Exploration at OSU. Thought it would help him keep options open but he is still likely to pursue biology major. Heard from current Honors Student (sophomore pre-med) that biology program is great. she has had research opportunities since first semester and spent last summer in Africa.
My older D graduated from Pitt and is now in med school. We were very impressed with all they had to offer as far as opportunities. As we decide with my younger D, we are exploring more options and OSU seems like it has a lot of potential. We are visiting in February to see for ourselves…
@adkdad We are visiting in February too. My S also did the 4-week University of Pittsburgh Health Careers Scholars Academy (formerly governor’s School) last summer which exposed him to the facilities, etc.and loved it He is leaning OSU however.
My daughter is a 3rd year in biochemistry and this semester she is participating in research activities for one of the doctors there. Not quite sure what she is doing as organic chemistry is her favorite and that is way above my level! She did tell me the biology program is wonderful though and loved every bit of it including the labs.
