I got a 5 on the AP Bio test junior year, but really our class was a joke so I’m not sure if I’d be ready to jump into molecular biology in Bio 121. Any thoughts would be helpful since I know intro to bio is probably going to be a pretty time-consuming course.

Also, in SAS are you allowed to take more than 4 courses first semester freshman year (4-4.5 credits)? I seem to remember reading somewhere that the limit was either 4 or 5 courses.

You probably won't be allowed to take 5 courses - usually only BFS kids get to take 5 first semester.
Usually people who take 4.5 credits are taking a lab. science (like bio), or a 0.5 credit course. If you really want 5 credits though you should e-mail/call your advisor.
I took Bio 122 with an AP credit (although I didn't do AP Bio) and I did fine in it. I'm not sure on the differences between 101 and 121, but definitely don't be intimidated by 121. It'll probably prepare you better for any advanced bio classes you might take, and I think they both have fairly steep curves to try and weed out the incompetent pre-med types. If you wait until spring semester and take 122, it's an uncurved class, although I'm not sure how much of a difference that really makes.

Taking 5 credits first semester isn't a problem at all. I think I just told my advisor I wanted to do it and she took care of it, no questions asked.

I wouldn't be too intimidated by Bio 121. I didn't take AP Bio and I got an A in the course. Intro bio isn't really one of those courses that requires extensive background knowledge, at least in my opinion.
