I'm considering pre-dentistry. However, I know that it is EXTREMELY difficult to get into dental school. After speaking to many different advisors, I have realized that my major does not matter as long as I have taken the classes to prepare me for the DAT (dental aptitude test). Since my major "doesn't matter," can I major in something like business? In no way am I exactly interested in this, but I just want to have something to fall back on should I not be able to get into dental school. My concern here is that would the classes required for the
DAT and the classes required to get a degree in business be too much in four years? What can be done with a degree in biology if I don't get into dental school? I'm very much interested in this but the fact that I might not be able to get into dental school and could in essence waste four years of college does not make me feel comfortable. I don't want to think negative like this, but I also need to be realistic with myself and have a viable backup plan. Help me out on this conflict please. Thanks in advance.

Although majoring in business and taking additional classes, required for the dental school, and studying for DAT might be a challenge, I still think it is a great path. Not only it will secure you in case if you’ll not get into a dental school, but also it will help you acquire management concepts, that WILL be useful when you’ll start your dental practice. If business is something you might also enjoy, I would go for it and major in business!
But don’t loose hope about getting into dental school! Attitude is what matters the most! :)

Sure, that is a great major for Dental School, after the major you will have the knowledge to handle the financial aspects of your practice office so is a PLUS for your application. Also you may consider some classes in another language like Spanish.
