Can someone please tell me what colleges (on that list) would be good for biology, with a pre-med concentration? Ranking them would be very helpful also.

Thanks for the replies..are Drexel, USIP, and VCU good? I'm interested in Drexel's and VCU's guaranteed admission into med school. Where do the other colleges rank from best to worst.

Are you just emphasizing Washington because it has an amazing med school? Does it actually have a decent pre-med program? I think I have better pre-med programs on that list. I just need a ranking of those 12 to better understand what to do next.

Thanks a lot warblersrule86 and bobbobbob, I think I have a pretty good understanding now..Anyone can post other opinions..Im kind of desperate.

Since were talking about Life Sciences/Pre-med, I would opine that generally the Biology programs at U of Washington, Washington State University, Oregon State University, U of Oregon and Colorado State University are equally strong. That's why I don't think that it makes sense to "rank" this group [your stated preferences] in Biology. That being said, you should consider an undergraduate school's placement record for medical school applicants. For example, if you locate information about the U of Washington Medical School's incoming first year class, I believe you will find many graduates of each of the undergraduate programs that I mentioned.

My only reservation about Western Washington University is that its course offerings are significantly less than that of the other universities noted. However, if you were to deviate slightly regarding your major, you could major/ or minor in science generally at WWU and still be a successfull applicant to medical school. WWU has a good Marine Biology program, for example. And medical schools, like the excellent Oregon Health Sciences University (Portland) say that they are looking for more than "narrow focus pre-med" majors.

Oh ok thanks a lot I was just wondering how I can figure out their med-school placement. Do you know about any of the colleges on the east coast..VCU, USIP, or Drexel?

University of the Sciences and to some extent Drexel are fairly small schools...quite a difference from the large state schools you are also considering. So, if the size and style of campus are important factors for you evaulate them in that light too...Uof Sci and Drexel are in urban settings.
Drexel is very strong in engineering/comp sci and has a better reputation for those areas than straight sciences. Also it's the co-op experience at Drexel.
Uni of the Sciences has its rep in the pharmaceutical sciences since it was the nation's first college of pharmacy, but would still have strong heatlh sciences.
VCU, I'm not too familiar with...sorry.

Thats fine I'm interested in Drexel because of their accelerated BS/MD program. I'm interested in VCU because of their guaranteed admission program. I'm interested in the U of Sci because I figured they would have a good med school acceptance rate. Is that true for any of those 3 schools?
