biomed engineering admission criteria

do they go strictly by stats (gpa, sat's), or do they take other things into account?

uhhh..what do you think :S ??

they go by how cool your are.

of course they take other things into account. they probably take more things into account for bme admission.

Only your stats.

SAT's are 76% of the evaluation.
GPA is 14% of the evaluation
Class ranking is 10% of the evaluation.

But really, for serious. BME is no different than any other major, aside from the fact that the selectivity becomes a bit more narrow and refined. This doesn't mean that they have a different method for evaluating applications. And even if they did, we would not know.

sl88, the BME review process is an intense one as the applicants being considered for admission into BME tend to be some of the strongest in the entire applicant pool.

Many, many factors are considered just like with all admissions decisions. During the BME review some areas are focused on a bit more:

(in no particular order)
(1) Performance and strength of curriculum in math and science courses throughout high school
(2) SAT I Math score or ACT Math score
(3) SAT II exams in the Math and Sciences
(4) Research experiences
(5) Academic enrichment experiences related to the natural sciences, mathematics, and/or engineering
(6) Interest in the BME field, and reasons for selecting the program

Hope this helps you realize this is a comprehensive review process.

AdmissionsDaniel (or anyone else), what was the acceptance rate for BME last year? I applied under BME and I've only been able to find the overall JHU acceptance rate (35%). Thanks.
