I've been hearing some mixed reviews about this major. What the pros and cons?
Straight A student, currently a senior in HS. Focusing on math and sciences. I know I want to go on to med school if that makes a difference on the quality of BME major.
Also, is an engineering program going to screw me over for applying to med school? I've heard it's very hard to get a high GPA in engineering compared to other degrees.
Thanks in advance!

Since you are interested in pre-med, BME is not a bad choice as far as engineering degrees go. Biochemistry might be another good major. Medical school admissions consider a lot of factors, not the least are the MCATs. With an engineering degree, you will probably do well in the physical sciences portion of the exam. The challenge is usually in the writing and verbal part. GPA is important but consideration is given to a more difficult major.
