I would like to become a biomedical engineer. But a lot of people said that biomedical engineering as an undergraduate degree is too broad (You might not learn as much “engineering” as Mechanical/Electrical engineering).
Which one do you think is the best choice/decision?
a. Biomedical engineering as an undergraduate and master’s degree
b. Electrical engineering as an undergraduate and Biomedical engineering as a master’s degree
c. Mechanical engineering as an undergraduate and Biomedical engineering as a master’s degree
d. Others_______
Bio e typically needs a masters. Other disciplines do not. If you like bio e and will do a Ms in it then go for it. It is a very broad field though.
The best decision is the one that aligns with your interests and helps you achieve your career goals.
By the way, this question gets asked at least a few times every month. Please do a search and read through the numerous threads on BME.
I think the question gets asked a lot because students (and maybe high school guidance counselors too?) think that a biomedical engineering degree is what you’d get if you want to work in the biomedical field.
