Biomedical Engineering Undergraduate Major?

So what do you all think of their new BME major? Do you think it will become strong? I have an interest in Biomedical Engineering, and may pursue it if it appears to be a strong program. I've currently declared my major as Biochemistry and am doing pre-med.

Is BME good if you want to get an MD/Ph.D?

Almost 300 views and no responses? Clearly, you guys are interested in this, too.

Bump. :P

The undergraduate program is relatively new, and to be honest not very strong compared with the rest of the Engineering department. Also, space is limited to only 20 per class.

If your goal is to become a biomedical engineer, you are better off majoring in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical, Materials, etc depending on your interest and minoring in Biomechanics.

With all of that being said do what interests you

Here is the recommended schedule before you enter the program (Apply to join in your Sophomore Year)

Biomedical engineering is a new but a hugely growing field. If that is what you want to do, major in it.
