Has anyone ever taken this class before? Does it cover the same topics as Stats 13, or does it go much more in depth? I really like stats, but I'm not sure the difficutly-level of this particular class. I also want to know because the final for this class is on the same day as the Chem 153A final. Any input greatly appreciated! :)

its not bad at all, but i think some people have trouble with stats in general. if you’re not one of those people, you will do well. i dont really remember what stats 13 consisted of, but its mostly the same or builds on basic stats principles. hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, two sided t-tests, z-tests for 2 populations, chi-squared tests, etc etc. you will most likely be allowed formula sheets, so the final should be mostly plug and chug as long as you understand the concepts and know how and when to use which formula.

my professor (sinha) didnt teach that well, but i’m pretty sure i got an A (i just took it and grades havent come out yet). i hear prof lee is really good though, if you can get him.

just note that its REALLY hard to get into because everyone wants to take it, especially spring quarter with graduating seniors (its one of the few easy A south campus upper divs you can take). so you need either priority or a really good pass time to get in it. it was full for me, but i kept and eye on the registrar site. i got lucky that someone dropped and i immediately went to ursa to add it.

Thanks for your response! Do you remember if the class went into ANOVA and F-test and stuff like that? Those topics kinda scare me, lol.

Gjertson is teaching it next quarter, but I’m not sure how good of a prof he is. There aren’t any bruinwalk reviews. I don’t even know that I’ll get into it for sure, but thanks for the tips on just checking the registrar site!

nope, didnt go into those. the last lecture we learned about chi-squared goodness of fit and chi-squared test for independence.
