Hey guys,

I remember taking a look at princeton's class profile during the summer and was surprised that they included Biracial as a category. It seems that princeton's biracial population made up about 4.6 percent of their student crowd. So I was wondering if being biracial would help in princeton admissions. I myself am bi-racial, German and Chinese, and have tailored one of essays to that end. What do you guys think? Is biracial a URM? And if so, do you think it will make a significant impact on the admissions process? Thanks for the replies!

Haha being half Caucasian and half Asian is most definitely NOT considered an under-represented minority. White and Asian students constitute the majority of each of Princeton’s four classes, and as a halfie, you’ll most likely be considered as part of that majority. Being biracial in and of itself will not make a significant impact in the admissions process, but explaining in your essay how being from two different cultures has shaped your world views could be potentially very interesting.

Very funny. Age is a category too but the answer does not impact on chance of acceptance. Go for it! I mean, go for what is meaningful and the outcome may be an offer from a college you find desirable.
