Does being biracial help with admission?

Hello,
I recently applied to this American program and they asked for me to identify my race. This really got me thinking...
I want some opinions on if being biracial/ a minority helps for acceptance into American programs because I know most institutions try to have a mix to show that they do not discriminate. Do you think being biracial is more beneficial because the institution can "get a Hispanic and Native American in one kid"? Or do you think being one race is more helpful, more "pure" in some way? Does anyone have any personal experience with this?

Yes, being an “under represented minority” will help.

Being more than one is not an additive bonus in most cases. There’s that old joke about the ultimate candidate being a disabled black female lesbian Vietnam vet, but we’re not going there. In fact, the way you phrase your question about “American programs” leads me to believe you’re going to be classified as one thing - International, which in general is not a positive thing. URM status is generally reserved for US candidates.
