Ok really quick question here, I just received a certified copy of my BC from the Kansas Dept of Vital Stats, if it is signed by the registrar and is straight from the state, will that pass as what they call an original?

I don't know about the birth certificate but I just thought I'd add that you can also use a passport instead of a birth certificate if you have one

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe they suggest not using your original birth certificate, because they keep it. It can be a copy, but what they look for is the seal imprinted on the paper to prove that it's official.

if it is a certified, notorized copy, it's ok. I emailed the lady who is in charge of the security clearance, and she said it's fine. That's what I'm using because it is a royal pain to get a Birth Abroad Certificate notorized. :)
