BIS1A or BIS2A?

because they are replacing BIS1 series to BIS2 series, should i take BIS2A instead of BIS1A, if i m planning to take “introductory biology” class from this winter quarter?

p.s. does anyone know why they are doing this?

Yeah, I was wondering that too, even though my advisor told me to wait for the 2 series.. Apparently, they're updating the curriculum, but she (my advisor) has no idea whether it'll be harder or not.. I don't remember when the 2 series will begin, but I'm worried I will get overwhelmed later on, with Organic Chem, Physics, AND Bio all together.

Check your email! There's a presentation on BIS1/BIS2 tomorrow night.

Can you tell me where and when? i didnt get such email.

I got it on my hotmail email only for some reason (and not on my ucdavis email). Anyway, here's the email:

So we cannot take the BIS001ABC series? Majors with a BIS001 series requirement have to take the BIS002 series now? Sorry I wasn't able to attend the meeting so I don't know.

they changed the focus of the subject. Take 2 series if you are starting to take biology, and if you already started taking 1 series, keep taking that series and finish it. Upper level classes that require bio 1 series will acknowledge 2 series. So just think as bio 1 series change to 2 series and nothing happens to others.

ps they recommended taking 2 series cuz they will stop offering 1 series next fall and there will be competition for the spot. it will suk if u cannot finish series and have to start taking 2 series from beginning.

At this point, I suggest you guys to take the 2 series. A lot of upperclassmen/women are rushing to finish up their own bio series and since they have higher priority registration over you guys, you may not be able to get into a class to finish the series.

And I bet you guys are going to be learning the same boring classification stuff that we had to learn in the new series =P.
