Well, I was accepted to Tisch for Dramatic Writing, but the financial package was absurd - even with the Tisch Scholarship, my parents could not possibly afford it. At the bottom of the financial letter, however, it said my fafsa had not been resolved, and I would need to send the proper documents to disburse aid, but I wasn't sure if that meant they couldn't give the scholarship otherwise, or that I would actually receive more aid once the issue was resolved. My other choice is Berkeley (out of state), which would be quite expensive as well, but I haven't yet received the aid package from there. I have been leaning towards Berkeley because of financial reasons, but I really do want to do a screenwriting program and become well acquainted with the skill and technique of screenwriting, and, I think it would be pretty foolish to pass up the opportunity of Tisch. It took a lot of time to prepare a portfolio and everything, and I was so happy to get in, but now I'm not quite sure what I should do. If I attended Berkeley, which I heard has little or no screenwriting opportunities, I would be doing English, and I wouldn't get the same opportunities as I would at Tisch.

Hi,

I understand where you're coming from. Would it be a possibility to "suck it up" for the first year and then try to get an RA position or other outside scholarships to help you out in the next 3 years? You'll have summers and and breaks to work and that can help you out too.

My undergrad was crazy expensive, my monthly loan payments are huge, but I STILL don't regret it because I got to do what I loved. The school I went to was the best possible fit for who I am, and I doubt that if I had gone somewhere else for the sake of $$$ I would be as happy a person as I am today.

Did you go to NYU ?

no, but I am going to NYU for grad school as long as I can afford it
