does it matter much when it comes to jobs perspective? mba? what is the differences? All I know is biz econ is more math base theory, and biz admin is more about practical. Which one is better? such silly question.

You can have any undergrad degree for MBA so it doesn’t matter if its business economics or just business administration. If we’re talking about UCLA and UCB here then you’ll have a good shot at landing a job. They are both recruited by ibanks, firms etc. This is debatable but it seems like Biz Econ is a fallback for those that don’t get into Haas. Recruiters don’t really care whether its biz econ or business administration because they recruit both. I don’t think one degree specifically is better than the other but rather UCB has a better Econ and Business program than UCLA.

What work experience you get matters more than where you go.
Where you go matters more than your GPA.
Your GPA matters more than your major.

If you’re comparing econ to bus admin… employers often think to themselves “ehh same thing”

In your mind, what’s the difference between an Applied Math major and an Applied Statistics major?

My advice is to look at the major requirements for each of the majors and see which one interests you more. It really won’t make much of a difference when you apply for jobs either. Most recruiters/hiring managers rarely look at your major as long as it seems somewhat relevant. The most important thing (sometimes even more than what school you go to) is getting as much relevant work experience as you possibly can. I’ve seen students at CSU’s getting hired for positions where several UCB/UCLA students have applied for. Of course going to a higher “ranked” school will help you out, but you can’t always bank on the name alone to get you a job.
