Black Friday ... How did SHE not get in?

@Lorem. We are in the same boat. Getting accepted to these schools has nothing to do with prestige. It’s all about the $$$ they give.

@ Kewlona. I wish we were full pay. That would mean that life(for us anyways) would be so much easier in so many ways. Being full pay would be a wonderful thing.

@Kewlona I think that post was very insightful. Thank You.

WashU isn’t much higher!!! (posted in response to UChicago admissions rate)

Questbridge is a phenomenal program for those who qualify.

QB has low acceptance rates as well!!

Agree- competition for all these spots is fierce.

I am sorry to hear that so many schools are actually getting less selective, even as their admit rate goes down. They are much less likely to get the students who would most benefit from the specific things that their individual and unique school is likely to offer. Instead, they end up with a more homogenized student body and a more homogenous experience.

Except for a few, where money still talks. And football.

jym626,

You beat me to it.

That’s a relief. I was a little worried they were being forced to let in the rif-raf.

^^^
LOL, Bwahahaha.

FWIW I haven’t seen much bellyaching yet about the results. Postive sign? It is going to be interesting to see what happens with all the Supreme Court business this year, how they rule, how it is interpreted and what are the ramifications on AA. And by “interesting” I mean “interesting.” For me at least, I don’t really care which way it goes.

Potential big decisions for the nine this term, in a couple areas. (At least I think they are ruling on some AA cases this year, in addition to the marriage cases.)

Hey, we are not full pay :stuck_out_tongue: I don’t know if I wish we were…when you are full pay with a little margin it is much worst than needing aid…

All I am trying to say is that US is not the only country in the world with great schools. We are complaining about internationals coming here and “stealing” our kid’s spots. What is holding our kids? Not the cost…our mentality is holding them…
And may I point out, that European admissions are much more predictable. One does not have to cure cancer and bring peace to the nations to be admitted ;)

And to bring back EPFL - I think that living and learning in Lausanne for 22k/year is a bargain ! Just google some pictures of the city :)

"That’s a relief. I was a little worried they were being forced to let in the rif-raf. "

OTOH, Xiggi claims adding in all those deferred people into the calculation to derive this number is “ba humbug”. So they are letting in riff-raff according to his calculations. :D

Bovertine - I have been wondering when the court will put a verdict on the UT case since most of their supporting documentation is from the Ivies.

kelowna: yeah, i think that’s where tina turner lives…

Tex, they have decided to revisit the UMich case, as well. I think they are trying to come up with some standards?

IDK. Court watchers think the decision to revisit Michigan is a sign they will ban AA.

We shall see.

“It’s necessary to process disappointment. Telling someone “Thems the breaks.” is dehumanizing and offensive.”

What? If this was meant to be in red font to indicate sarcasm I apologize. If not, you have got to be kidding. It is teaching young adults that they can’t always get what they want and they had best get used to it. Everybody in life gets knocked down, its how quickly you get back up that defines you.
