I applied to the University of Delaware on November 5th. I checked my Blue Hen Portal yesterday, and it basically said that I will get a notification about my admission when a final decision is made. I am guessing that the admissions committee has seen my application and they're going to make a final decision soon. Would I be correct about this?

It is extremely difficult to answer your question with any certainly. Last year this type of message had no real predictive value in determining when an applicant would get a response. This year it appears that UD has been accepting some students a lot earlier than last year but I still I don’t feel this message has a lot of predictive value as to when an applicant will receive a decision. It would appear from the acceptances already posted on another thread that most of the accepted individuals would seem to fall into the category of being “high achievers”, based on the stats they reported. UD is still accepting applications up to I believe 1/15/15. Perhaps they are waiting to get a better feel for the overall total applicant pool before making final decisions on many applicants. I suspect they are trying to avoid a situation similar to last year when I believe around 17% more of OOS applicants accepted an admission offer, resulting in a larger freshman than they would have liked to have had. This is just my perspective. Obviously I could be wrong. Best wishes to you as you await your decision.

Alright, thank you so much! I just got the feeling that UDel would be making a decision about my application soon
since it apparently takes 8-12 weeks to decide. However, what you said about the high achieving students being admitted first makes perfect sense since a state university in my state is picking the students who are using that school as a safetyish school first. Once again, thank you for responding to this! :)
