captain in:varsity academic bowl, varsity debate team, varsity lacrosse
president in: asian culture club
SAT i just took: 710- vocab 780- math 680- writing

would i be good enough to apply for jhu?

Yes, you're find. Your SAT's and grades are higher than mine and I got in. My SAT was 1400 (780M 620V) and I had several C's in my grades freshman and sophomore year (Latin) and one C in AP Euro that was on my midyear report. They didn't seem to care. As long as you get good recs and write good essays and present yourself well you will be find. =]

definitely work hard on the essays...your stats are good, but you need to JHU your love. If FinAid is not important, apply ED -- 60% acceptance rate -- to really show them the love.

wait wait!! one more thing! i've had a 58 on midterm report (precalculus - sophomore yr) because my teacher accidently put in a zero for two of my test grades. would this hurt me?

Hrm, I think you'll be fine. your ec's are excellent. If your SAT score goes up, it wouldn't hurt. And wow, I didn't know ED was a 60% acceptance rate. that's outrageous (but cool). I think you'll be fine. But once again, make sure your essays and recs are brilliant.

I have similar grades as you, I'm also a fencer, was ranked nationally. I applied ED and got in. Make sure to talk to the coach. I had a 1440 SAT which looks similar to yours (yours is in 3 parts so I cant tell). I think you'll be fine ED, though I can't speculate if you apply RD. Either way, make sure to write a killer essay.

ED's actually more like 55% from what I've heard... Well, the 58 won't hurt you. I dont think any single grade can hurt you. If it was your teachers fault it should have been corrected anyways...I'm hoping at least. :p Anyways, relax because I wasn't too hot freshman or sophomore year either...and I'm definetely not on fire right now. Just present yourself well...if you do it well enough, it will outweigh your GPA and SAT tremendously. There have been people rejected from the top 5% of the class with 1500+ SAT's, and there have been those accepted with 1200 SAT's and less than stellar grades. Don't underestimate the power of the essays. Oh yeah...may I also add I was barely top 25% of my class? :/

Dude, you're fine. Go back to work.

lol... no... this kid isn't fine. it's not like he won the olympics. his scores aren't that great. moreover, he's from GeorGia.... oh please... give me a break... stick to Georgia State or Savannah university (wtvr it's called).

He lives in Georgia... And you're point is? Let's not discriminate based on geography or anything... His grades are similar to mine, even though he dropped soph year, the mean is about the same as my grades. I got accepted... Don't listen to people who discourage you for reasons that are silly. Look at the statistics.

" wait wait!! one more thing! i've had a 58 on midterm report (precalculus - sophomore yr) because my teacher accidently put in a zero for two of my test grades. would this hurt me? "

and you didn't have the teacher/principal correct this? you have good grades, but i cant believe u let this happen... anyways ur grades, activities, and SATs are awesome.

just write good essays and have an interview to show ur interest.

whattheboa, you'll be fine. :-) i'm krn too btw, and will be attending this fall. ^^ (hopefully... i might get my admission rescinded though because i dropped half my classes after being admitted >_< but anyways)

don't stress. you're fine so far, just keep up the good work and spend plenty of time on your application, particularly on the essays. i'd be glad to look over your essays for you if you'd like and share my essays with you =) aim: quixar4kids
