BME at Johns Hopkins!?!?!?

I wanna do BME at JHU but i seriously doubt I'll be able to get in. So, I'm applying as undecided under engineering. is this a good idea? will i be able to transfer to BME after? or should I choose BME.. and i heard that you can STILL get in but not into the BME program.. im confused!

i think that you should choose BME, its not going to hurt you. They consider you for the school before they consider you for BME. Also, its very hard to transfer into BME, there are a set number of applicants theyre willing to admit, so transferring is probably as hard as it can get. but if you put BME, they WILL consider you from the start, so overall, its better to put BME than not, not putting BME is basically giving yourself zero chance. well i guess there is an exception, you didnt put down anything on BME but they still accept you. ahah that happened to me, i have no idea why or how, but just to tell u that its possible, but as far as ive known, no one else has heard about htat happening, everyone was pretty suprised at me getting in without applying. anyways goodluck, and remember to put BME, it doesnt hurt.

thanks, just wanted to get that cleared up... is it MUCH harder to get into BME? b/c i don't wanna go there if I don't get in BME.

lol just try, its not like you have to pay or that they kick you out or anything. i dont know how hard it is, but i do know that not everyone who applies get in, and that people who get into the school may not get into BME...if that helps

According to the JHU admissions website (<a href="http://www.jhu.edu/admis/pdf/2005/application_complete.pdf%5B/url%5D">http://www.jhu.edu/admis/pdf/2005/application_complete.pdf</a>), if you want to pursue BME, you MUST specifically apply with BME as your first choice major, you cannot transfer into the program. The admissions staff told us at our campus tour in the spring that BME was by far the hardest major to get into at JHU.

The truth is that you can still transfer into the BME program (even though the website says otherwise). But transferring in is less likely can be less likely than being accepted up front (depending on the number of BME drop outs).

yeah, i was really surprised by that. my friend transferred into BME from Neuroscience (but she soon transferred out again, haha...premed. yikes!)
