Boarding School Applicants for 2014-15 School Year

@violinjaa I won’t list until results come out, and you’ll have to search for the few I’ve mentioned elsewhere…

Same here. Let’s just say… L’ville and LC are my firsts.

@violinjaa-Im a reapplicant also! Im applying for 10th grade

I applied to Andover Deerfield and Hotchkiss. My parents were not involved at all and on my first SSAT i got a 92 without studying–I just worry schools might think thats my full potential and I’m not as good as I can be. I get a’s in all classes except PE–how will schools look at that? I am pretty good at piano and study fairly advanced repertoire, but am nowhere near a prodigy like some people applying. I think I had good interviews, my essays are good but nothing special, and I am not the best athlete around. Do I have a chance of getting in anywhere?

There’s a chances forum for this stuff.

No one can give you exact chances. Honestly, what information you gave doesn’t really show anything. A lot of the people applying have exactly what you described.

You may believe that you aren’t special, but I believe that you may have something special you don’t know about. I believe everyone does. Boarding school admission committees should believe the same. If they don’t, it invalidates their whole mission statements, about well-roundedness, etc. They obviously can’t accept everyone one, but you should hold your breath.

"“Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.” -MLK Jr.

You have already taken the first step. You have put you faith in, so persist. Same to everyone out there, even the admission committee people reading this right now. ;)

Very motivational. I agree that everyone has something special about them, but there is a certain degree to how similar you are to other applicants. But there’s no way BS’s know that you have something special unless in an interview or essay, so they can’t take that into consideration.

Anyone applying to andover for ninth grade could we make like an email chat or something? I really want to see other people’s essays and scores and everything. Comment your email addresses below!

Don’t post the emails. PM them if you want. I wouldn’t want everyone to know my email address.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I applied to Groton for IInd Form and was waitlisted. I’m applying to a total of 9 schools this year.

@stargirl3-At least you get to go the full four years without having to repeat!

Agreed. You’re lucky Stargirl.

Anyone applying to Exeter…
What are your SSAT scores? (If you are comfortable)
Anyone applying for 10th grade…
So nervous…

I’m applying to Exeter and I got 86th percentile in the SSAT. What about you Harleen?

I got a 96%
Math-91
Verbal-92
Reading-96
I am so scared… I am literally thinking about how I will react to an acceptance or …rej… letter!! I am so obsessed. I have a biology test tomorrow and I am here  … Hope I do well…
Did you take the January form??

DS applying to H, A, SP. Grades never below an A. Athlete. Vocalist. ISEEs in mid 90s.

@BHADES and mrnephew, you’re right. I am kind of lucky. I am young for my grade (I’ll graduate at 17), but I feel too mature to repeat. Not that you guys aren’t, but you know what I mean. I hope.

@stargirl I feel the exact same way!

Yeah, I know what you mean.

I’m pretty young for my grade, too. Repeating would make me a little weird too.
