Choate!! Yeah, I know I’m crazy for only applying to one school, but my heart is really only in Choate And my parents only want me to apply to one school :/

@topsecret,
Put down 1. Even if you haven’t started yet, by the time you submit the Candidate Profile, you will have begun your first year.

lynnie14,

I know I shouldn’t tell you what to do, but you should really think about applying to more than one school, especially because you’re applying to one so selective. I’ve said this countless times, but I think it isn’t a good move to apply to only one school. It never seems to work out well…

So apparently 300 applicants apply for ninth grade and 100 are accepted. For NMH

It does work out for some…just not MOST. Like laughalittle, I don’t think that it’s a good idea to only apply to one school. Have you asked your parents why?

@rizzledrizzle: i think the odds are even better for NMH freshmen. About 300 apply, and around 100 make up the freshman class, but due to yield, they probably accept more than that. Boarding School Review puts their asseptance rate at 46%, and while I know that not all their numbers are up-to-the-minute accurate, I think it’s a good sign that they accept more than 1 in 3. It’s a great school. My brother’s friend LOVES it!

So since the yield is low, they accept more than they have space for?

Pretty much every school accepts more students than they have space for. Most people apply for more than one school, but even those people lucky/amazing enough to get more than one acceptance can only go to one school, so every school accepts more than they expect will eventually show up. Sometimes in a surprise year more people will accept than they planned for, so they even the numbers more the following year, or whatever. I’m not completely sure, but basically, NMH accepts closer to 150 of those 300 applicants, which is better odds for you and me!

So 50/50? I see how that is (: Are you applying for freshmen year?

Well, my parents aren’t too hot about the idea of me going to boarding school, and they know that it is not a very likely chance of me getting in, so it is all part of their master plan. But i am convincing them to let me apply to another school.

Is anyone applying to Miss Porter’s??

@narwalsnarwals- im thinking about it…im still not sure if I want to go to a girls boarding school though. I currently go to a girls school and I love it, but being around solely girls for that long seems a bit much. would you be applying to be a freshman or a sophomore?

@narwalsnarwals- I’m applying to Miss Porter’s

is andover need blind for internationals?

It’s need blind in general so yes.

Am I the only one who feels this year is going by so fast.

I think it’s pretty long… maybe…

it has been super fast for me :O

I scheduled my Blair interview and Peddie OH!

I’m gonna schedule all my interviews as soon as all the hurricane shenanigans settles down.
