Hey… I was just wondering whether Lawrenceville has a study abroad program? I thought they did but I cant find it on their website.

[The Lawrenceville School - Academics: International Programs](http://www.lawrenceville.org/academics/international/index.asp)

This is a link for some trips that they’ve done in the past.

thanks!!!

@helloel, i don’t think i was waitlisted for missing the form. I just think it was for not being a fit for the school. In retrospect, I really was a terrible fit and I’m glad that they waitlisted me.

Oh, okay I see. I just didn’t understand if you were trying to imply that that’s why you got waitlisted.

If I’m having my recs sent through SSAT is this the address I have on the envelopes for my teachers?:
SSAT
CN 5339
Princeton, New Jersey 08543 USA

yeah that’s what i did!

Okay thanks! I’m sending TABS recs to SSAT (I checked with them to see if that was okay) and they said that was fine except they wouldn’t be able to expedite them. Does this mean the schools could get them late?

Also, what does CN mean in the above address?

idk what CN means, but they may get them a little late. Schools are normally pretty forgiving about slightly late apps from teachers so I wouldn’t worry about it.

I emailed the Lawrenceville School some time ago asking the same question and they said they would accept the TABS form but you have to mail it directly to the school, NOT to SSAT.

Oh, okay. Well I’m not applying to Lawrenceville. I’m applying to Middlesex, Peddie, and Taft through SSAT so I’m going to send my recs through SSAT. Wait, but I though Lawrenceville accepted the app from SSAT? Why wouldnt they accept recs through there too?

The TABS forms are not a part of the SSAT application so I don’t think they would accept it. I would check with each of your schools though just to be safe.

Okay thanks!

so im applying to deerfeild, hotchkiss, and taft!
but im sort of scared because my grades this year haven’t been the best, but my grades last year were straight A’s.
Do you think i should explain the reason my grades dropped to the admissions people?
its sorta of because the teachers i have are aweful this year my english teacher doesnt even know grammar and stuff
what should i do???

@Funnygurl: I don’t mean to be critical, but I believe that you also need to improve on your grammar and spelling. Make sure that you spell the name of the school correctly (Deerfield), and that you use proper contractions (its), capitalization (i), punctuation (this year. My English teacher…), and spelling (sorta?).

You won’t be able to make the case that your teachers suck and that’s why your grades went down. That just won’t go over well. There’s nothing really you can do, except for try to prove your strengths in your essays.

laughalittle: Sometimes I’m rushing and need to ask a question quickly and do not use proper grammar, and I think that’s what she was doing. However, you are certainly correct that you don’t want to make those same mistakes in essays.

This is a little bit of a side note, but do you think that using the SSAT or TABS application will hinder your application? With the SSAT and TABS applications, they have generic questions for each school. Evidently, each school has their own specific questions for a reason. They ask certain questions to see how well you will fit with their school. I don’t think that I’ll have an automatic rejection solely because I used the SSAT or TABS application. I’m just wondering if they’ll be able to see if I’m a good fit for the school, just by looking at the generic questions. I want to go through the SSAT for my Peddie application, but I’m still a little uncertain…

I went through SSAT through all my schools that allow it. They would not have it as an option if they favored receiving their own branded application. It’s in most of the FAQs, and each one states that it does not make a difference. They can tell if you are a fit by the responses you give to any question, not just ones that are school specific.

Okay, well that’s good to know. I may go through SSAT for my Peddie application. How far are you in your essays?

I’m completely finished, just making edits. I can usually write essays pretty quickly and once I write them once, there’s not really much else to do but make word edits. I don’t usually find myself rewriting much, because my best writing comes out while I’m thinking of the response. In other words, I don’t think or brainstorm before I write, I just start writing haha. So these essays aren’t too bad. How far are you?
