Boarding school experience questions

So I’m trying to get your experiences from boarding school. This is for a video game plot and story for a book I’m currently doing. I don’t want to make assumptions of what you guys do at boarding schools. If you want to go into depth, go for it.

My questions

Do you get to wander around town after classes end?

What is there to do after classes end?

What are the different gender dorms like?

How bad is punishment when someone does something like fight or harassment (not sexual, I think I know what may happen)

How big is campus? (usually)

What kind of security is there?

How are the teachers?

What do you call the principle?

Did you or anyone get a part-time job?

What kind of extracurricular activities were there?

Also, when do you guys have lunch? What about dinner?

  1. Town is a hefty walk away, so no, but at a more urban school you could.
  2. Sports, homework, hanging out with friends, exercising, clubs/activities.
  3. Not sure what you mean. Dorms are separated by gender. At my school you can go in any common room but only in the room of another gender on designated nights with the door open and a teacher on duty.
  4. It takes 8 minutes to walk from one farthest building to the other.
  5. One or two security guys driving around in a security car.
  6. His title is headmaster, but we address him as Mr. ______
  7. No
  8. Drama, clubs, sports, all that jazz. Check out some boarding school websites for more info.
  1. We can if we sign out. They are pretty strict about signing out and in. During the school week unless it's a half day I usually don't leave campus. Town is a short walk away but I'm usually pretty busy.
  2. Same as at a public or private day school except for check in and night study hall being stuff that have to be done. Same as stargirl3.
  3. Girl's dorms tend to be nicer in my opinion. Same as stargirl3.
  4. Same as at public or private day. Suspended or kicked out. I know some schools have a 1 strick your out policy though.
  5. I've been at my school since September. It's December now. I have been to all the buildings on campus but haven't taken the time to visit all the spread out athletic fields, the full cross country course and the tennis courts. My school is on a hill.
  6. A nice group of people.
  7. Nice, great people. They really care about you.
  8. Headmaster but when I'm talking to him he's just Mr...........
  9. No.
  10. Some schools have more than 50. We have sports, arts, music, and more. Follow stargir3's advice.
