Boarding School Rankings

haha shut up

Agreed. Thank you anon27!

I gave the numbers -- not just the rankings -- to show how solid my data is. These numbers, which added up into the THOUSANDS, are so accurate that they are expressed in the TENTHS. Same as Icy's. We're both tracking data so precisely, the numbers run to the tenths of a point. You don't get that kind of accuracy from most ranking systems.

That's the bottom line for all who seek ranking information: If your rankings aren't based on raw numbers that are down to the tenths decimal place, your rankings aren't worth a darn.

I didn't even look into Middlesex at first, but I wish I did. Bill Richardson went there!!!!!! He's my hero! I think he is the best politician in the world -- he's absolutely phenomenal... I wish he would win..

hahah flaudgulent.. reminds me of a flagellant..... AHEM.... that's exactly what we need to do. flog these heretics!

My grandmother says he's not going to win because of his womanizing.

Well, in all fairness, fun is fun isn't going to win because he's just flat out wrong. His womanizing is beside the point.

Oooooh, good one Potsie. How do you know I'm not gay? Then I would be potentially guilty of manizing.

Academics:
Exeter
Andover + St. Pauls + Deerfield
Lawrenceville + Choate
Milton + Taft + Hotchkiss
*Some school are so close in terms of academic rankings that it seems unfair to not rank them equally.

Matriculation:
You can look them up yourselves since info are available online.

Social life - in terms of community unity (rank only from the above schools):
Taft + St. Pauls
Deerfield
Choate + Lawrenceville
Exeter + Andover
Milton
Hotchkiss

sorry we did not factor in Groton because we don't know enough about it even though it is quite a good school.

I think Peddie should be up there. They have great college acceptances, great academics, great facilities, etc.

Regarding the dispute over Exeter...

It wouldn't be hard to determine how many people in the last five years have gone to Ivies. If anyone is an Upper, they have access to where all Exonians in (I believe) the last five years have gone. They can then look at individual colleges and determine how many Exonians attend/have attended in the last five years. Say, for instance, you looked up the Ivies--you could then add them all, divide by the total number of students applying to college the last five years, and you'd get your average college matriculation to the Ivy League Schools.

I think you need to include the top 10 liberal art schools as well as the top 10 universities. Several schools steer their kids to them instead.

If we could compose a list of say the top 15-20 colleges in the Nation, we could possibly determine the matriculation percentage of Exeter. The liberal art schools would be a welcome addition.

Does anyone have information on Western Reserve Acadamy in Ohio?

Their literature indicates that they are rated among the very top.

Agree almost 100% with Beo. I would just make some slight changes to the academic rankings.
Academics:
Exeter
Andover + St. Pauls + Deerfield+ Hotchkiss(great academics)
Choate (people here overrate it) + Taft + Milton
Lawrenceville ( a little below)

Exeter has Harkness...no other school can compare, full stop.

Lots of schools teach seminar-style, just because Exeter features it doesn't make it the number one school..

sorry cookie it does....the way they teach is student led, discussion based. Students know how to listen, comunicate, move through material indepth and still at warp speed. The students graduate as educated human beings & it's not about where you get accepted for college. It has been said that you get your education at Exeter and you get your ticket punched in college. There are other wonderful prep schools too. Andover, SPS, Hotchkiss to name a few but PEA is miles ahead. Sry.

like 20 other schools have harkness method

The following is the 2007-2008 ranking determined based on SAT score, College matriculation data, number of AP class, endowment/student by
