How bad is it that I was wait listed for 6th grade at Milton

jilly, although that's not what you wanted, the bright side is that you still may have a chance getting in. GOOD LUCK!

My son was waitlisted last year for 6th grade. Have you applied anywhere else?

mamom, did your son eventually matric at milton?

We're waitng to hear from Milton. Has anyone received an acceptence from Milton yet? Was it expressed mailed or regular mail. We live in NJ.
My d has been accepted to St.Mark's and Miss Porter's, wait listed at Choate and St. Andrew's

Did those of you who really wanted to go to boarding school use a process like that recommended for college apps- safeties, matches and reaches? I know it is a different animal in many respects, but it seems as though it would prevent some of the big disappointments.

I only applied to Andover and Exeter. Not only did I not want to write any more essays and fill out any more forms, but I figured going to the high school I currently attend next year wouldn't be so bad.

I did not safeties or matches. I figure it is all or nothing for high school, I'll probably do the R-M-S thing for college.

Just curious- all you boarding school wannabes/acceptees: do you have any idea of where you want to go to college yet? It's early but it'd be interesting to see the boardingschool-college correlation...

shelley14, congrats to your d, so far she has two very nice schools to decide on.

Thanks, Prepparent! We're thrilled. I really liked both St.Mark's and Miss Porter's. It will be difficult decision. Her first choice though continues to be Milton. I hope we hear tomorrow but today was terrific!

shelly14, wish her good luck for me. As I recall from our d, it feels alot less tense when your'e waiting for that ::certain:: school and you have already been accepted elsewhere.

Has anyone heard from Deerfield?

My son is now in 6th grade at a local private, he never got into Milton. Actually, I just got home and opened a letter addressed to my husband and myself stating ds didn't get into Roxbury Latin for 7th grade either. bummer. I don't know what we are missing. DS tests well on the ISEE, gets good grades and is athletic. I think his interview went well at RL, I just don't know. oh well.

Congrats to all those who got acceptance letters! And good luck to those still waiting.

We're still waiting on Deerfield, though I think we've already decided to choose within our top 3 choices (Hotchkiss, St. Pauls, & Exeter (haven't heard from Exeter yet)).

We got the acceptance letter from St. Andrews in Delaware. Nice school, kinda too small though.

fxmom, my 6th grader will be a perfect fit for a school like st. andrew's. Isn't it nice to have choices.

Yeah, I liked the family structure of St. Andrew. Everyone sits together for breakfast and lunch. The entire school fits in the dining hall. It is definitely the closest school (a little over an hour to get to).

But all in all, it comes down to your gut instinct. So if anyone got waitlisted at St. Andrew's, don't fret. We're respectfully giving up our spot.

I got waitlisted to Cate. What can I do to improve my chances for acceptance if space is available?

fxmom, that's what it's all about, that gut instinct, that makes the fit right for your children. have you decided on which school to attend?

Right now, Exeter and Hotchkiss would have to top St. Paul's full scholarship package for us to change our minds. We love all three of these schools. Each in their own unique way. So it comes down to the Financial Aid packages they offer.
