Boarding school students...

The TV portrayals of high school life is not similar to life at boarding school. Do any of you feel that you're missing out of the true American high school experience? (If you don't go to boarding school, do you think TV accurately shows what your school is like?)

Most people don’t go to boarding school, even on this site, right? ahha

is there a specific show? because it obviously varies…(i go to public school)

I think it depends. Some shows probably do a more accurate job than others.

^Yea, obviously. That’s why I asked which show…

Ok, well the OP will tell you soon:)

My school, which is a public high school, is not what they portray in movies.

^There are SO many movies, so that’s pretty general. And for some movie to get it 100% accurate to your high school would be pretty amazing. There must be something that at least has the same ideas/themes/people/ideas or anything else that might contribute to your school.

As a general rule though, movies and television tend to heighten most events in high school–sometimes understandably so, sometimes way too melodramatic.

While they are missing out on the traditional American high school experience, they are at the same time receiving a great education that is of “greater value” than the education that many other students receive.

I go to a boarding school ranked within 20s and I feel lke I am missing out ooso much
life here is nothing like that of the boarding choo klife in movies and my keyboard sucs

I got to exeter right now. I think what the TV shows and movies don’t mention is that we actually have to do work. I mean we have class on most saturday mornings (although we do have a half day on wednesday where I only have one class) but the weekends are pretty chill. Like sunday we watched the entire eighth season of friends. (everyone was sick (SWINE '09!!) so nobody really anted to even move.)
