Book on Backorder, End of the world?

So it turns out I just got an email from the ucla bookstore representative stating that one of my books was placed on backorder and that they would no longer be taking requests for textbooks after the 20th. Now the problem is, I was one of the early birds who decided to shop for textbooks way before classes started, so as soon as the list was put up, I decided to browse Half.com and lo and behold, made my purchase via the intraweb. 4 weeks later, I find no book but am still charged. I file a buyer protection claim and set on to my next option, the UCLA bookstore. And this happens...

So is this the end? Will I be able to make it through the first few weeks of class while I attempt to find another seller and get it shipped to me? Help me wake up from this nightmare!

yes, you will be fine. a copy or two of the textbooks are usually placed on reserve in Powell, so you can go to the library and do your reading for the first few weeks.

You might consider just buying it new off Amazon and eating the losses.

Well, I would at least.

But yeah, you'll be fine.

what does it mean if the book is on back order? cause i have one like that..do they charge you still?

Backorder means that the book is currently out of stock but orders with this status are usually prioritized as soon as the store restocks. HOWEVER, the ucla bookstore has opted to do their best in completing our orders up til the 20th and will declare all backorders after the date null and void. You will not be charged as the order is simply cancelled.

Well, I just ordered the non package edition of the book for 6 dollars more and an additional 11.95 more for expedited 2 day shipping! Hope things go well >_>

So since the 20th has passed, they won't process my backordered book? It's my book for Ed 92F and I can't manage to find it anywhere else on the net, so should I just check with them in Ackerman when I get down there?

Definitely! Make sure you have the course number or the ISBN number of the book to make things quicker. Well, this was what it said in the email they sent me:

"Listed below are the books you ordered and the amount charged to your credit card. We will attempt to fill back ordered items through Wedneday, September 20th, after which time all titles on back order will be considered canceled. This means that any items on your order that are listed on back order that have not been filled by September 20th will be deleted from your order and will not be filled. Please call the Textbook Information Counter @ (310) 206-0791 for any general information regarding textbooks. Your credit card will not be charged for any items unless they are filled."

I would recommend that you call the textbook counter @ (310) 206-0791 and ask to see if they still have it in stock. Give them the ISBN number and im sure they'll let you know if its still available.
