<p>Er.. to be honest... I don't know if "book" and "play" are interchangable. Usually I consider them to be, but for the sake of consistency I put "book/play" for most of these.</p>

<p>Mine (I realize books aren't quoted but I don't feel like doing html, sorry)</p>
<p>1) What are you currently reading?: "Lord of the Flies", "A Doll's House", "Mid Summer Night's Dream", "On ********" (I unfortunatly get sidetracked sometimes)
2) What did you last read?: Finished "Their Eyes Were Watching God" a few weeks ago
3) Favorite book? Why?: I really liked reading "Night" and "Dawn" in that order. "Night" is the story of a Holocaust survivor, someone who has a gun pointed at him, "Dawn" is when a Holocaust survivor is on the other end of the gun - he's forced to kill a British soldier in the fight for Israel. Very psychological.
4) Favorite play? Why?: "The Glass Menagerie" by T. Williams. I think it's beautiful... how Laura holds onto her dreams and how Tom wants to escape his life without hurting her.
5) Has a book/play changed your life? Which?: Nope... I want to read a life-changing book though!
6) Last book/play you bought: "Lolita" by Vladimir Nabokov. I read the introduction somewhere and it's the most beautiful introduction ever.
7) What do you plan to read next?: "Kite Runner" and "Cat's Cradle" - they're summer assignments that I still haven't started.
8) Most overrated book/play: I was not a fan of "Gatsby". The symbolism was great. I loved Fitzgerald's writing style. But... the characters! I hated, hated, hated them. Nick was okay, but the rest. UGHHH! They are all so shallow. Gatsby isn't Great, Tom is a filthy hypocrite, Daisy is pathetic, and Myrtle?! Why, Tom?! Ughhh. Can't stand it. I do want to try another Fitzgerald though since I like his writing.</p>

"The Catcher in the Rye", becuase you aren't officially a teenager until you've empathized with Holden Caufield and his words.
"The Lord of the Rings" Trilogy, because it's such an epic story
"The Case for Faith", becuase it truly brought a new perspective into my faith as a Christian
"A Seperate Peace" because everyone has that friend they're jealous of
and a crapload more books.</p>

"A Midsummer Night's Dream" by William Shakespeare because i performed in it, and it's such a funny story about love and idiocy. a great combo
"The Taming of the Shrew" by William Shakespeare sheer hilarity.
"A Doll's House" by Henrik Ibsen, because it's a woman's stuggle to be freed in a time when she can't.
"Hamlet" by William Shakespeare, becuase it just is...Hamlet.
"The Importance of Being Earnest" by Oscar Wilde, becuase mistaken identity was never written more beautifully</p>

<p>"The Importance of Being Earnest" - this was my introduction to the world of plays. It was my first and so far one of my favorites
"Hamlet" - My first Shakespeare play. I read it on my own in the 7th grade, and that was when I discovered i can read shakespeare, as pathetic as that sounds lol
"The Lord of the Rings Trilogy" - I read all 3 in 2 weeks in the 7th grade. Being immersed in something so overwhelming you never forget it.
"The Catcher in the Rye" - it made me realize that i'm not the only one who thinks the world sucks, and that there were others who felt the same, even 50 years ago. this book holds a special place in my heart</p>
<p>6) Last book/play you bought: summer reading books and such. "The Killer Angels", "The Crucible", "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn", "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime", and "The Gatekeepers".</p>
<p>7) What do you plan to read next?: probably finish "The Gatekeepers".

It made me realise that some children really do go through parental abuse and that some children are not as lucky as some of us with a nice house and nice friends and a nice future. 3) Favorite book(s)? Why?: A Prayer For Owen Meany. That's touching. Stephen King's stuff. He makes you think and can creep you out too.

5) Has a book/play changed your life? Which?: Are You There, God? It's Me, Margaret. It just did, man. Anything by Judy Blume just hits home.

3) Favorite book(s)? Why?: Pride and Prejudice. It's so witty and sarcastic, but has such meaning in the world then and now. Plus, every time I reread it, I always notice something new. Crime and Punishment is also very good.
4) Favorite play(s)? Why?: The Importance of Being Ernest. Oscar Wilde is hysterical!!! I also love My Fair Lady, (or Pygmalian), Twelfth Night, Midsummer Night's Dream, the Taming of the Shrew (hate the last scene tho), and a Raisin in the Sun
5) Has a book/play changed your life? Which?: Pride and Prejudice came pretty close, I guess...

Lord of the Rings because I love how it's this great epic adventure and how to really understand it you have to emotionally invest yourself in the characters. I also love Picture of Dorian Grey. I love the morality and mortality and how much it makes me think. I love Oscar Wilde stuff though. He's my man.</p>

Inherit the Wind and Ceasar. I just enjoyed Inherit the Wind, while at the same time making me think, and I usually hate plays. Caesar was predictable, but I loved it, it was exciting and interesting, and the only Shakespeare literature I have ever liked</p>

I'd say Lord of the Rings. It helps me to not get depressed as often because when things get down, it reminds me that things always work out in the end</p>

<p>3) Favorite book(s)? Why?: Oooh. This is a tough one. The Lord of the Rings series for one, and I just love it. 1984 would be another one just because of in a sense how creepy it is. and A Clockwork Orange is just amazing. </p>
<p>4) Favorite play(s)? Why?: Angels in America because it's a masterpiece. There's really no other way to explain it. And The Night Thoreau Spent in Jail. I finally understand Thoreau's philosophy and transcendentalism. And finally, Accidental Death of an Anarchist because the crazy guy in the play runs the entire play, and yet he's stark raving mad. </p>

3) Favorite book(s)? Why?: Catcher in the Rye. it's the perfect book to read to understand the loss of innocence and the struggle to regain that forever lost innocence.
4) Favorite play(s)? why: I've not read that many as i've read books. My favorite is probably Waiting for Godot because it is so profound.<br>
5) Has a book/play changed your life? Which?: Catcher in the Rye and Waiting for Godot. Catcher in the Rye made me realize life is worth living and striving for. Waiting for Godot made me realize life is a pointless waste.

7) What do you plan to read next?: anything existential or pre existential. Ulysses by James Joyce, maybe?
8) Most overrated book/play: anything by Shakespeare. everybody thinks that the stuff is godly and elegant. shakespeare made stuff for peasants and beggars. no one back in the elizabethan era who was royalty would say, "let us goeth to the innovative shakesperean performence."</p>

<p>1) What are you currently reading?: "Philosophy: The Basics" by Nigel Warburton
2) What did you last read?: "Killing Yourself to Live" by Chuck Klosterman
3) Favorite book(s)? Why?: "A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius" by Dave Eggers. It's gimick-y and kind of overwrought and slow sometimes but I love it to pieces. It's in this great stream-of-conscious style (his sentences were once described as boomerang sentences in that they are long and run-on and eventually come back to the point) but it works for me.
4) Favorite play(s)? Why?: "The Laramie Project" by Moises Kaufman (sp?). I read it and cried and then I saw it and cried even harder. It's such a powerful play.
5) Has a book/play changed your life? Which?: "Sophie's World" by [How embarassing, I can't remember] It got me interested in philosophy.
6) Last book/play you bought: "Catch-22" by Joseph Heller. I'm excited.

8) Most overrated book/play: For teens? "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" by Stephen Chbosky. I loved it, but it is considered gospel among so many people I know.</p>

<p>3) Favorite book(s)?: A Tree Grows in Brooklyn because some of the people that I know in my life almost is almost parallel to some of the characters in the book. Also, I can relate very well with a lot of the characters. It's a thought-provoking book that everyone should read. You'll cry and you'll laugh. </p>
