Book Recommendations

My daughter has just received her summer reading list and, as part of the list, must choose one of the following:
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (Stevenson)
Dracula (Stoker)
Frankenstein (Shelley)

Which of these did you enjoy most and why?
She thanks you for your input.

i actually enjoyed Frankenstein...it was a bit boring in the beginning but it picked up in the middle/endish.

but then again if she has to annotate and read "closely" then it might be a different story...i read fast and tend to skim the unnecessary parts so annotating boring sections would probably be really bad.

i haven't read the other 2 though...

I read Dr.Jekyll & Mr.Hyde and I liked that one. Hm, and I heard Frankenstein was good too, but I haven't read it.

Dracula is a great book, well its not that great but its stellar compared to the other two. Frankenstein is retarded and Jekyll and Hyde is boring.

I've only read Frankenstein out of that like, and it wouldn't be a bad choice.

I've read Frankenstein twice from different perspectives, and I really enjoyed it. I haven't read the other two though. I think Frankenstein is really a great look at social responsibility. That would be my recommendation.

Thanks so much for all your replies! I will let me daughter read your comments and then she can decide which to read. She'll also be reading Grendel (Gardner); if you've read it, did you read Beowulf first?

Thanks again.

i read grendel! haha and no i didn't read Beowulf first...no need. Beowulf is only mentioned in the end and the book gives you an interesting perspective on Beowulf's first monster slaying...

it was interesting...esp towards the end where Grendel went a little loopy IMO

I think it's more useful to see what each is about than to just see what others thought of them.

I have read all three...my favorite would be Dracula. :-) Very interesting...especially if you compare it to vampire literature of today.

ughhhh i still havent gotten past through the first 3 pages of frankenstien.
I havent read dracula. But i watched the movie. It was ok.
And i've read a kiddie version of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and even watched the movie (it was scary.. at the time). I liked the plot but I havent read the stevenson book.

I liked Frankenstein best. And as was said before, it starts off dull, but gets more interesting toward the middle (my favourite part was when Frankenstein met up with the monster and the monster talked about his "life"- it was painful, but interesting).
