Son is a freshman heading to U of AL…trying to ‘get ahead’ by booking his Thanksgiving flights.

Do most students book a flight out the night the classes end for Thankgiving? I’d assume so (instead of the next morning, not even sure if dorms are open). Then, I assume they fly back the night before classes begin? I know this is being very elementary, but since we are spending $250 plus on a flight, just want to make sure I have it right…

Thanks!

Your son can leave whenever is convenient for him. He will probably have to arrange his own transportation to Birmingham (did not see mention of a thanksgiving shuttle service at ua.edu), so you have the flexibility to arrange flights around his class schedule.

Thanks! At this point (as a freshman) I don’t think he has an idea/preference about when to leave, but I guess we’ll just go by his class schedule, leave enough time to get to the airport and do a best estimate. Thanks!

Jolynne, hope this is helpful to you.

Thanks, jaf1991–that’s great! And, much cheaper than the $115 round trip (before tip) shuttle option!!
