Books to self-study euro

I know there’ve been some similar threads about this topic, but I didn’t find them too helpful as they offered scattered book suggestions. As of now, I am planning to use AP Achiever + Crash course + MEH. My question is this: would these three books be enough for me to walk into the test room (and out) feeling confident about a 5? I’m mainly worried that the Euro FRQs tend to be specific and that these books wouldn’t cover the FRQs as well as a textbook would. If these are not enough, feel free to suggest a textbook. Links are welcome as well since many of these books have various editions and volumes on amazon.

Use MEH throughout the year alongside school tests and such(impossible to cram MEH), use crash course in the last 2 weeks. Should be enough, assuming your school class prepares you decently well and you do well in school.

I’ve never used PR but I’m pretty sure that it is good - if you decide to use it, open it up one month before the exam, and you should get good review (in between MEH and Crash Course in terms of detail).

Btw this is a self-study, sorry if that wasn’t clear.

Oh. MEH is a good bc it has all the info, except 1990-present. Use MEH as a textbook and read it at least twice. then go to PR and CC

Alright, thanks. Any other opinions?

I agree. I used a similar combo of books and received a 5.

I took a class, but here’s my $0.02 -

I didn’t use MEH, but did have my Western Heritage Textbook. MEH is a good substitute. The Princeton Review had a lot of information, and really helped me get a 5. Crash Course is good for final review and getting ideas for essay topics. REA also makes a book of questions or flashcards, and I answered at least 2 of the MCQs right because of this book.

For the FRQs, PR and MEH should give you enough information. It’s a good idea to write a practice essay on each of the major topics, or at least the ones you’re shaky on, so that on the test you can use your old ideas you’ve already thought of.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

ap euro is very easy. i bot a barron’s preparation book and read it in 2 weeks and got a 5

What’s MEH?

Modern European History by Viault.

So is MEH like the AMSCO of APEuro?

And is there only one edition of MEH?

Yes, and it was printed in 1990. It is missing a few recent events such as the fall of the USSR and the Maastricht Treaty, but those can easily be covered with other prep books. I have PR and CC in addition to MEH to cover those areas and for more insight/reinforcement on the other topics.

I bought MEH and CC yesterday and studied it with my western heritage book. they both help substantially.

Sorry what’s CC? I am also considering self studying AP Euro

CC=REA Crash Course, I believe. That book is a godsend. Get it for sure (it’s also quite cheap).
