Books

Are books for our classes available in the bookstores during orientation (/ really want to get ahold of Spivak to finally see what's in it)? My orientation is June 20-22.

Nope, books aren't available in campus bookstores until something like a week before classes start, and even then they won't necessarily have all of them.

if you want though, once you have selected your courses after orientation, you can call or go to the bookstores and ask what book is required for the fall term class. Ulrich's will tell you but I know Shamen Drum or w/e its called won't.

Anyways if you find out that way, you can reserve them, or even better, you can go online and find the books for like 1/2 price. It will save you a load. I remember I paid $250 for my first sem at UM while everyone else i knew paid around $500. Second semester I didn't have time to wait for the books in the mail so I had to just buy em from Ulrichs....that cost me $525.

Online is a nice place to buy books.

Absolutely about the buying books online thing. If possible get the title/author/edition, etc and ISBN from the bookstore and then find them on Amazon or somewhere like that. If you do this 2-3 weeks in advance, you'll save a ton buying used books.
