Books

I need help getting a ballpark figure of textbook expenses next year. Could someone tell of their textbook buying experiences? Like is it possible to find good online/local deals around the begining of the semester? I plan on taking Calc III, French 202 or 232, Astronomy 211 and Physics 151 for the first semester. If you know the specific books or a likely book for these classes, please share. I have a strong idea of what the books will be for Astronomy and Calculus.

Some one told me not to buy early because the professor may want a specific version that he doesn't tell until the first day of class. Should I follow this advice?

When it is available, there will be a pdf file on the bookstore's website that lists all textbooks for every course. That's your best bet, it won't be out until sometime in August.

There's one up already though it doesn't look complete. Looks like I can know all of my desired classes' books except for physics. Turns out even with looking for used it looks like I'm dishing out $400 anyway. :-</p>

Don't buy books till you actually go to class. The class book list is very generalized. Even though they teach the same course, some professors may not teach teh same way. Econ 201 for example, required two books, yet my professor only wanted the main book, not the supplement. Go to class, see if you're interested in the class first of all, once you are, go out and buy the book. You can get off not having the book for probably 1-2 weeks.

Go to amazon.com :)
