Bookstore purchases and laundry

I was wondering how bookstore purchases work … if my son needs something at the bookstore for school, does he need to pay for it with a credit card? Or can he somehow “charge” it to his OU tuition account and then I can pay for it at the end of the month or whenever the account come due?

Also, how does laundry work in the dorms? When we toured, they mentioned that the students got so many washes a week but I can’t remember how many. How does that translate to actually using the laundry? Do they insert their student ID’s somehow?

Sorry, I can’t remember whether you can charge something to your bursar account from the bookstore. It’s been a few semesters since I’ve bought anything there. I’d wager a guess that you can’t though.

For laundry, as a freshman we didn’t have any “washes” built in. We had to pay through a system called SoonerSense. I think it’s a dumb system, but you put money from your credit card or debit card onto your SoonerSense account and then you swipe your ID. For that it was $1.50 for each load in the washer and $1.25 for each load in the dryers. I would usually end up doing two washer loads and one dryer load each week. Hopefully they’ve improved the system since my freshman year.

The students get four free washes/four free dries each week (I think). Any additional cycles must be paid for. The Bursar office says students cannot charge textbooks to their account (but they can charge football tickets, so go figure).

Thank you both for your help!

Quick aside, but football tickets are allowed to be placed on the bursar so they can be reimbursed for students who receive them free (scholarships or working in the athletic department) whereas books are simply loaned out from the bookstore to those who receive them for free, so there’s no need to place them on the bursar.
