Boost My Score by 2 Points?

Hey guys! I’m currently a Junior in HS and I took the ACT for the first time in February.

I got a 34 as my composite score. I was a little disappointed because my goal was a 35 or a 36. However, I will retake the ACT in April or June. My worst section was Science- I got a 30. I had worked on science a lot before because I know I do badly in the science section of the ACT (probably because I tend to over think everything). Do you have any advice for me to boost my score two points? I know it’s a matter of three or four questions, but I just want to guarantee that I get the score I want. What else should I do to prepare for April or June?

Thanks guys!

That’s a really good score for the first time! I would take it in June, that’s my first piece of advice. Once you get in the 33-36 range, it’s trickier to bring up your score. Just take lots of practice tests and focus on science since it’s your weakest area. Do you think time got you or just the topic of science on the ACT in general?

Thank you! The ACT seems to be much easier for me than the SAT. Getting your score up is definitely trickier in this range. Science is such a strange section. You don’t really need to know factual information for it, so I think that’s what gets me. I’m better at the facts than I am at analyzing the data and getting the right answer. I always like to read through all the experiments and understand them completely even though I know I should be just finding the correct answer. I tend to run right on time so I’m bubbling the last answer as the proctor calls time. Thanks for the advice @southernbelle16 I will definitely work on science more and try to get my time down a little bit.
