Boot Experiences

If you want to I guess, I ordered mine online and they fit fine.

Did you wear the same size in your boots that you would wear in normal shoes? The boots go by male sizes right?

I'm not sure about how the sizing works, but yeah I think my boots are the same size as normal shoes. If you are leery about it, you could try to find a Surplus Army/Navy store in your area and try some on there. I think you need a Military ID to shop at places on base. But if you are really unsure or wary of sizes, just try giving them a call and asking about the sizing of their boots, I'm sure they can give you some insight.

Your letter of acceptance will do if you don't have a military ID.

they have women's sizes too. at least they had the women on one end and the men on the other at orientation

Great, I found a surplus store in my area. So I just ask for either the Bellevilles or Bates right? Are any of the models acceptable as long as their flight shoes?

There's a model number on the site or in one of your packets or somewhere. It's on the page with the boot, lol. That's all I remember.

Not sure about the Bates, but the Bellevilles are model 700.

Bellevilles are hott. :)

I got wellcos. I think that's what they give people with small feet, lol.

I got my boots a month ago and wear them everyday. When I ran in them, I got blisters just above my heal. I run cross country and track and I know how to take care of my feet. When I come for BCT, can I bring mole skin, duct tape, sock liners and if not how are injuries like these cared for?

Thanks

You won't really need to, they issue you a blister kit. And if they get really bad, they'll just take you to sick call and have them fix it for you.

I'd bring that stuff with you if I were you. It's pretty easy to sneak some of that stuff even if they don't allow it, and I'm sure they won't have a problem with it.

Just don't have any scissors or knives.

yup, not allowed to have scissors or knives in BCT.

I had my big toes wrapped almost every other day for blisters. So, they have medical personnel doing this a lot during BCT as well.

I got hot spots above my heal before comming to BCT. If you keep wearing them, the piece causing that will wear down.

i hate blisters...but lucky for me, i havent had any trouble with that yet while breaking in my boots. knock on wood
