Boots

Quick question about boots. I'm at marion right now, and i've already purchased some rather awesome boots(corcorans) and was wondering if i could use thse maybe as a secondary set of boots, or as dress boots since I can get a mirror shin on them in about 40 minutes(i mean mirror). Or, am I not allowed to use these at the AFA and am I kinda stuck not being able to use this awsomely awesome pair of boots.

BTW, I guess you could say they're Paratrooper boots, but with a jungle sole.

The orientation packet says that buses pick appointees and guests up from the fieldhouse at 4:30 to take them to the airport, so I would assume it ends at around 4:30, or whenever the cadet that your shadowing's last class is.

Thank you mitchell1311, that really helps! My son took his Appointment folder to school today, :-) I don't have the info with me.

Your- *you're (sorry, it was bothering me)

That's cool, maybye your son and I will meet at orientation. I want to try to meet as many people as possible before I report this summer. I saw that your son has an appointment to all the academies, has he chosen which one he will accept yet?

Strong lean toward NA, but wants to be absolutely sure. That's why he will visit before deciding. So many pluses at AFA & WP. Really tough decisions.

Congratulations to you for getting this monumental Appointment!

Corcorans are not allowed for 4 digs till after recognition. So, do not bring them. You will be wearing the same boots as everyone else and taking hours upon hours to hope for partial mirror at best. ;) After march your 4 dig year you can wear the Corcorans. Same goes with Corophram low quarters.

Tuesday orientation ends around 3:30 or 4 I think. Earlier if you need to leave.

Some 4 digs have corcorans, but I wouldn't bet on being able to keep them...chances vary depending on the squad.

Well, I'll be darned if the Upperclassmen are gonna get them. I'll just have em shipped out to me when I can wear them.
Thanks for the information and I really wish Marion Military Institute would get its act together and ship the Falcon guys here's transcripts.

My son is flying to AFA next week for an official visit. Where can he purchase the boots?

If he does it then they will take him down to Flight issue between mitchell hall and sijan hall. He has to have an escort while in the cadet area, so I'm sure they'll take care of it.

Thank you for your help Hornetguy. He's looking forward to his visit.

I talked to the guy @ USAFA selling boots, 3 brands are exceptable: Belleville 700, Altama 6478 & Bates (not sure the model #). No zippers, no steel toes, black, fabric on ankle. Anyone have any pros/cons on these brands?

Nah. The brands are pretty much the same from my experience. The important thing is that you find a size that fits your foot well. Can't stress this enough.

I would recommend against Bates. I have those and they are noticeably heavier than the bellevilles. However, the Bates hold a shine better, or at least look it in comparison to the bellevilles, but if I had the choice again, I would have taken the bellevilles.

I like my Bellevilles. I don't have any other experience though. They are pretty hard to keep shined, though. Future basics, remember "Lincolnwax is better than Kiwi!"

Hey I just got my 2nd packet from the USMA and it looks like we're getting the new ACU's (they asked us to get the hot weather tan boots).

The current class of 2010 at USMA has ACU's already, so that would seem to be a safe assumption....

I would only buy one pair. You only need one for BCT and 4 dig year. After 4 dig year, some ppl buy different ones (they don';t have to be issued) which they like better. I would recommend waiting to buy a second pair.

I'm definitely getting another pair after recognition. I need lighter boots, and I want more leather than these ones.
