Borderline failing a class. Will I get rescinded from UCLA?

Hi folks! So I'm freaking out right now. I currently have 6 classes [20units total] and 2 jobs, one full time and the other part time. I'm doing fine in all my classes except Chem. I didn't know I needed the class until last semester, if I knew before hand I would have taken it then when I had only 3 classes in the Fall. But now I'm in major trouble and currently have a D in Chem. I talked to my teacher and she said im about 2-3% from getting the C and I told her everything depends on this class because its a prereq for my course, Psych, and she just said: well if u dont get a C you can always apply to UCLA again next year. =[ I'm already in but Im scared i'll get rescinded. your advice please.. I'm getting scared ****less right now.

What a B*tch this teacher sounds like. Yes, you will get rescinded if you get a D. All I can say is DO YOUR BEST. Ask her if there are any extra credit assignments you can do, whether or not she has suggestions for studying…etc. Make sure she knows you are trying and REMEMBERS your name!

Chem is a class that requires hard work; it seems as though you didn’t devote enough time into that class. With that being said, study hard to bring it up to a C.

OMG… this teacher was being sarcastic!!! hate this kind of teacher!

You’re 2-3% away from getting a C, so you can possibly get there if you devote a lot of extra time to studying and getting help, from classmates or office hours if you choose. Really, CC is going to be much help, and the only thing you can do is put in hard work toward the last of the semester. Good luck!

I don’t know, I have to side with the teacher on this one. It’s not like it’s entirely the teacher’s fault you have a D. There’s nothing in the teaching manual that requires her to “bump” you up to a C just because you need to get into UCLA. The grade you get should be the grade you earn. Now if she totally hates you and gives you D grades out of pure spite, that’s a different story, but from what you’re saying you’re just giving her excuses as to why you’re under performing. Legitimate or not, they’re still excuses. Anything she does for you is fantastic, but she shouldn’t be criticized for NOT treating you special. Just my two cents. And yes, you will be rescinded for a D.

call UCLA and ask them
they will know more than any of us

Vandalize her car and leave a message of intent written in animal blood on her windshield. Let her know that if she gives any grades below a “C” this quarter/semester, she will be next.

^ this. 12345

Yeah, go jihad on her.

quit your jobs and focus on the class. passing this class will be more important in the long run, trust me.

I can’t quit my jobs because I’m supportin myself. As for the time management btwn classes I’ve been givin my time for chem, along with my honors calc 2 class, spanish honors, comparative gov, speech n guitar. Dnt get me wrong she’s nice bu somewat not really understandin. She gives a quiz every week sometimes 2 and I’ve done well enough on her tests to maintain a C but recently with her quizzes she won’t give any partial credit for example ill do a whole problem n get everythng right up until the last step. I thought process is ryt jus an innocent mistake n she automatically mark it wrong. Won’t even give 1 pt for the process of gettin it ryt till the end. And so I’ve gotten 2s on abt 5 quizzes dats wat dropd me below the C mark…but yes I’ve talkd to my teacher and she’s giving me some tips. No extra credit tho.

By the way sorry if I have typos. I’m replying through my phone.
