Hi everyone,

I do see that there are a bunch of people having similar situation like me(whether in the pass or..), but most of them do not have answers to it. So I got into UCLA as Math major, but I got a D+ in Ochem in the winter quarter. I took it because I was a bio major(premed), but since I got in as a Math major(second choice major), ochem is no longer my major pre-req. Even without this class I would still have enough credits and finish the IGETC. I am currently retaking the course and will pass it this time. So my question is pretty obvious, how likely will I be rescind from UCLA? (I'm a community college student, not so strong at chem/bio, but SUPER good at math even I don't really like it)

Although I sent an e-mail to UCLA, it takes 15 days to hear back. I have bunch of midterms this week and this problem is bugggginngg me. I just want to hear from someone if they had similar experiences. In addition, I see on some posts suggesting calling the admin office instead of using e-mail? Should I call them tomorrow or simply wait for their response (through e-mail)?

Thank you guys...

if you fall below 2.0 AVERAGE in a quarter, you may be put on academic probation.

you won’t be kicked unless you continue to stay below 2.0 AVG while already on probation.

and even if so, you can usually petition by asking for another chance.

CremieuxR, he is a community college student. That D+ will look very bad… You can call into the admin office but they are not really helpful.

If you read the other posts you know that you should be proactive about this and call the admissions ASAP regarding your situation as they are the ones deciding whether or not they will rescind you. People who don’t call admissions to explain/resolve their situation with grades lower than a C tend to get rescinded. Regardless of your major, like HopingToXfer, that D+ in a c.c. looks extremely bad.

Edit: If I’m not mistaken, the UCs require you to report any grades lower than a C since you’ve applied anyways.

Hey guys,

So I promised myself I’ll come back and tell everyone the decision I got from UCLA, so that way if any people experience similar situation in the future they can have some answers.

So I am a TAP student, and my GPA is approximately 3.3. I got accepted to the math major. (I believe largely is due to I got into USAMO when I was back in high school).

UCLA did not rescind me, however require me to pass every class I’m taking with at least a B.

So I’m gonna sum up my situation: a student got into a non-impacted major, got a D on a non-major pre-req and non IGETC require course, and did not get rescind.

Thanks for the update
