bored

Is anyone else bored out of their minds when they wake up at 4:30 (or whatever respective time due to time zones)? There is just no body awake and I don’t really know what to do to occupy my attention for the 5 hours that my sister is sleeping!

yep I am bored as well...just got done working out and I don't know what to do...most of my good friends are on vacation or they are doing summer sessions at college.

Oh my, I am still sleeping in past 10 most mornings... ;)

I guess I could get started...

wow, i get up around 6:30, but I haven't gone all the way to 4:30 yet!

It's easy for East Coast people who travel back in time :)

yeah...I live in Florida (below sea level) getting up in Colorado time (2 hours behind) won't be as bad as the altitude adjustment...

yay Oregon, I am in the wrong direction, it's gonna feel really early

i guess i should start that sleep cycle soon as well...

yeah, i figured 2 weeks of starting to change my biological clock would be good. That way when basic starts, I'm not also stressing about the lack of sleep and weird hrs. and all my friends have jobs, so the only time we can hang out is evening...but I have to go to bed at 9:30!

Eh, I figure I'm not getting any sleep that first night anyway waiting for reveille. Plus I'm on MST so I'm not doing anything except becoming a strange hours insomniac. That can't be good.

Honestly you guys have the right idea and if you really have nothing else better to do, then adjusting your sleep pattern this early is good. But otherwise I would STRONGLY suggest that you enjoy the rest of the time you have with your family and friends, spend every last moment you can with them before things change. You'll have ALL summer to adjust..;) haha. Trust me, make the most of these last few days.

i'm working BMT at Lackland, getting up before 4 am central time. i'm in eastern right now, and have been going to bed at 2 getting up at 10... this could be tough. haha

Wow, I enjoyed my long nights and 8am wake-ups before my I-day...still, probably not a bad idea for you guys to start getting used to the weird hours. Like cdk said though, make sure you enjoy your time with your friends and family. You'll always wish you could get more sleep, and eventually you will get some more sleep, but time lost with your family and friends is something you can never get back. Hence why I stayed up late every night and got up at 8am. I spent almost every moment I had doing something I enjoyed.

^^me too. perusing this forum.

jk :D

(that's for you, potter ;) )

Whenever I am in a different time zone, I always like to reference myself to the eastern time. For example, It's 430 AM at the Academy, I would say, it isn't that bad it's only 630AM back home.

but you wouldn't want to do that for 4 years. and when everything else is going on Colorado time (classes, parades, ect.) you would have to "change" those hours to Eastern time.

Aye, it's a bit different when you actually live in a new time zone, as opposed to visiting for a few days.

Aw, poor kids. Get good sleep before you come, but you don't have to worry about waking up at 4:30 every morning now. Just enjoy your time before you come! Believe me, the first morning of basic, you will be tired no matter what.

well, I think I'm set. I wake up at 4:27 every morning...3 minutes before my alarm! I feel a bit bad about it, though. My friends threw a surprise party for me and I was SO tired by 10:30, I had to leave early!! :) But that's ok. It went until 1 am. There was no way I could stay up for that!
